Fear the Walking Dead, the new spinoff series that debuted on AMC Sunday night, set a new all-time cable record for a premiere, with 10.1 million viewers, according to Variety.

The show drew 6.3 million adults in the 18-49 demo, also a record.  The number of viewers in demo blew away the previous record-holder, Better Call Saul, which debuted on AMC with 4.4 million viewers in demo earlier this year.

The premiere of the first episode of Season 5 of The Walking Dead drew 17.3 million viewers, with 11 million in demo (see "'Walking Dead' Season Premiere Sets New Record").

AMC did a good job of teasing Fear the Walking Dead without revealing much (see "AMC Posts 'Fear the Walking Dead' Opening"), and the strategy apparently paid off.

Taking maximum advantage of the attention, AMC aired a clip from the first episode of The Walking Dead Season 6 during a special episode of The Talking Dead which aired before the premiere.  And during the premiere, a 90-second promo aired.  Both are below.
