The Pokemon Company has announced a new expansion for its long-running Pokemon TCG. Pokemon: XY--BREAKthrough will release on November 4. The release will be available as Booster Packs, Theme Decks, and in the BREAKthrough Elite Trainer Box. A Launch Kit and Mini Binder featuring the new set have also been announced.
The new expansion includes a new game mechanic featuring the "Pokemon BREAK." These new monsters come from twin worlds--one based on technology and one based on nature--the home of monsters like Zoroark BREAK, Mega Mewtwo X, and Mega Mewtwo Y.
Pokemon: XY--BREAKthrough includes 160 cards with six new Pokemon BREAK and eight new Pokemon-EX, four of which are Mega Evolution Pokemon. The expansion will be available in 10-card packs ($3.99), or as a three-booster blister pack with a foil promo card ($11.99). A 60-card BREAKthrough Theme Deck will also be available ($12.99).
The BREAKthrough Elite Trainer Box includes eight Pokemon: XY--BREAKthrough booster packs, 65 card sleeves, 45 Pokemon TCG energy cards, a player guide, six damage counter dice, a competition-legal coin-flip die, two acrylic condition markers, a collector box with four card dividers and a code for the online game. MSRP is $39.99.
The BREAKthrough Mini Binder features artwork from the new expansion and can hold up to 60 cards. It also includes one XY-BREAKthrough booster pack. MSRP is $5.99.
To support the new release, stores hosting release day events can order the BREAKthrough Launch Kit, which includes 72 boosters, 8 Theme Decks, 8 each of two different foil promo cards, and a shelf display that can hold the new products.
In October, two other Pokemon products are scheduled to release, including pre-built decks and a collector tin (see "'Pokemon: Battle Arena Deck' and 'Powers Beyond Tins'").
