Titan Comics has shared information and covers for the first issue of its Assassin’s Creed comic series, which launches on October 14. Coincidentally, the first character photo from the movie adaptation arrived recently as well.

The ongoing comic series is written by Anthony Del Col and Conor McCreery (Kill Shakespeare) and illustrated by Neil Edwards (Fantastic Four, Justice League, Doctor Who).  The first issue will feature a main cover by Edwards.  Additional covers will be provided by Marco Turini, Dennis Calero, and Adam Gorham. A sketch cover by Edwards and a blank cover will also be available (see gallery below). Titan announced the license in June (see “New 'Assassin's Creed' Comic”).

Set in the universe of the video game series, the story will follow new character Charlotte de la Cruz, a conspiracy theorist in San Diego, who is pulled into the world of the Assassins. She has a secret in her blood, an ancestor who was an Assassin in the time of the Salem witch trials, and she can access his memories with the use of the Assassins’ Animus technology.  But as she trains as an Assassin, the Templars begin to move against her.

The Justin Kurzel-directed movie recently began filming today, and Yahoo Movies shared this picture of star Michael Fassbender.  Fassbender will also play a new character, Callum Lynch, who carries the memories of his 15th Century ancestor, Aguilar.  Lynch must use his knowledge and skills to fight the Knights Templar in the present day. The film also stars Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises), Michael Kenneth Williams (12Years a Slave) and Ariane Labed (Before Midnight).  The film will release in theaters on December 21, 2016 (see “ Best in Shows--Q4 2016”).
