Marvel Comics has announced the early 2016 launch of a new on-going Power Man and Iron Fist comic book series that will be written by David Walker (Shaft) and drawn by Sanford Greene (Runaways, Uncanny Avengers).  Way back in 1977 the editors at Marvel decided to combine two series on the verge of cancellation, so Danny Rand, the Kung-Fu fighter with the Chi-powered fists joined forces with Luke Cage (aka Power Man), the hero with the unbreakable skin.

These streetwise superhero brawlers were revived in a new Heroes for Hire series written by John Ostrander in the mid-1990s, while Power Man and Iron Fist returned as a limited series in 2011.  Series editor Jake Thomas thinks the time is right for another revival and he explained that Walker and Greene are “both extremely well versed in the background of these characters, the world they’re from, but they're also bringing their own style to this. Expect some solid, old school Marvel characters—both enemies and allies like, say, Tombstone and Black Mariah—to show up."

Walker recently announced that he will be writing a new Shaft series for Dynamite (see “David F. Walker Returns to Shaft”).
