David S. Goyer, has promised a Batman Begins-style flavor for the Superman prequel show Krypton, saying "(i)t involves more of the mythology than I think people realize."
The writer of the Christopher Nolan Batman movies was talking to Variety while promoting Da Vinici’s Demons, another prequel that re-imagines origin stories, something he also did with Casino Royale. "I can’t tell you how many times people have said ‘we want you to do a Batman Begins version of X."
The Syfy channel announced the Gotham –style prequel series for Superman last year (see "'Gotham'-Style Superman Prequel") and apparently development is going well.
The series will take place 200 years before Superman’s birth and the destruction of the planet, following Kal-El’s grandfather as he works to restore the name of the House of El and pull the planet back from disarray. Goyer has considerable knowledge of the source material, as he also wrote Man of Steel and the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (see "New 'Batman v Superman' Images").
