New comics publisher AfterShock has expanded its staff with two new hires, the company announced Monday.  Stephan Nilson has been hired as Publishing Operations Manager, and Lisa Y. Wu has joined the company as Social Media Coordinator.

Nilson has a 15-year background in comics and television, with editing and writing credits with DC, Image, IDW, Nickelodeon, Warner Bros., and Universal, among others.  Most recently he’s been Production Manager for a Tampa-based video and animation production house, with clients such as Miller Lite and Adidas.

Wu has improved local and social media awareness for clients in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area, writes for the God Hates Geeks entertainment blog, represented the site at shows, promoted the site on social media, and acts and models.

AfterShock was launched in April with a high profile executive suite (see “New Publisher Formed with Marts, Pruett”), and will ship its first titles next month (see “AfterShock Announces Initial Slate”).

Editor-in-Chief Mike Marts extolled the hires.  “As the team continues to grow with some of the most sought-after creators and artists in the business, we’re also onboarding the best in marketing and operations,” he said. “Both Stephan and Lisa are prime examples of the types of industry leaders we’re looking to expand with, and we’re extremely pleased they’re part of the AfterShock family.”
