Here we round up all the movement on geek-related film projects from the last few weeks.

Michael Pitt has been cast in the villain role for DreamWorks live-action Ghost in the Shell, THR is reporting. The last news on the film, which will star Scarlett Johansson, was in November, when Sam Riley was circling the part of The Laughing Man (see “Geek Movie News Round-Up”).

Lantica Media and Sobini Films futuristic Zorro reboot has found a writer in Jonas Cuaron (Gravity), and it will be titled Z, according to Collider.  The post-apocalyptic film was previously announced as Zorro Reborn in August (see “'Zorro' Gets A Post-Apocalyptic Makeover”).

The next cinematic iteration of The Three Stooges will apparently be blatantly juvenile. Deadline is reporting that C3 Entertainment, which owns the brand, is currently on the lookout for a trio of 12-year-olds to play the roles. C3 was also involved in the 2012 Fox film (see “DVD Round-Up: '3 Stooges,' Will Ferrell, & a SF TV Trio”), and already has a script by Harris Goldberg (Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo) who is also attached to direct.

Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon have hired Jared Hess and his wife Jarusha Hess, who co-wrote Napoleon Dynamite and Nacho Libre, to script NickToons, the feature. Jared Hess is also set to direct the film, according to Deadline  The film will feature Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh! Real Monsters, and The Angry Beavers, as well as the anthology show KaBlam! and its characters: Action League Now, Tiki Brothers and Prometheus and Bob.

The adaptation of Jeff Lemire’s Descender has found a screenwriter, THR is reporting.  Jesse Wigutow, who worked on an early version of The Crow reboot script, will pen the space opera for Sony Pictures (see “Lemire, Nguyen Comic Sold to Sony”).
