Roberto Fraga’s Doctor Panic is a real-time boardgame in which up to nine players attempt to diagnose and treat their patients before the 12-minute time limit expires. In order to treat a patient, the “Department Head” must get the correct instruments from the other players—without asking for them by name.
Doctor Panic includes four game boards, 1 patient heart, 1 magnifying glass, 4 tweezers, 2 scanner tiles, 2 syringe tiles, 9 pill tokens, and 194 cards. The game is for 2 to 9 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in exactly 12 minutes. MSRP is $39.99.
Scheduled for March, Zany Penguins is the creation of veteran designers Bruno Cathala and Matthieu Lanvin. In this game, players lead armies of belligerent penguins intent on world domination. Victory depends as much on sabotaging the other players as organizing the most effective invasions (see “Two Bruno Cathala Titles From Asmodee”).Zany Penguins includes 90 cards. The game is for 2 to 5 players, ages 7 and up, and plays in about 20 minutes. MSRP is $14.99.
Cathala also designed Historio, scheduled to release in the second quarter. In this game, the players are the leaders of acting troupes preparing for the “Munificent Theatrical Festival”, hoping to appeal to the unpredictable tastes of the king.(Click any image for larger view.)
Via Nebula, designed by Martin Wallace, is a semi-cooperative game set in a fantasy land haunted by mysterious the mysterious mists of Nebula. The players must work together to create paths through the mist-shrouded land, while competing to establish cities and earn victory points.This game includes a double-sided game board, 4 player boards, 20 buildings, 12 artisans, 84 tiles, 115 tokens, and 42 cards. Via Nebula is for 2 to 4 players, ages 12 and up, and plays in about an hour. MSRP is $59.99.
Rounding out Asmodee NA’s second quarter plans is Final Touch, designed by Mike Elliott (Thunderstone, Marvel Dice Masters). In this game, the players are master art forgers, working together to create fake paintings. Each player hopes to be the one that places the last card—the “final touch”—to earn the painting’s full value.Final Touch includes 85 cards. This game is for 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up, and plays in about 15 minutes. MSRP is $16.99.
