Players take on the roles of drivers in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, taking food, water, and guns to settlements while trying to survive raiders who rule the void between cities. Players get missions from the three major factions of civilization, the New Republic Army, the Oracles of Ceres, and the Archivists, each with their own agendas. Games can be played in randomly generated scenarios, or played out in an extensively prepared ten-game campaign accompanied by a beautifully illustrated comic book storyline by Riccardo Burchielli (Batman Black and White).
