Writer Phillip Kennedy Johnson and artist Nic Klein have been sowing the seeds of a new horror story in the pages of Incredible Hulk, and they will launch the Hulk in a new direction in Infernal Hulk #1, which Marvel will publish on November 26.

Infernal Hulk #1 is set after Hulk grapples with the Eldest, the offspring of the Mother of Horrors, in Incredible Hulk #30 in October. Separated from Bruce Banner, Hulk teams up with the Eldest to revive ancient horrors by transforming the heroes of the Marvel universe into monsters. Far from being out of the picture, though, Bruce Banner will be fighting his hardest sto stop this plan from coming to fruition.

“I’ve been promising Hulk fans the biggest, boldest status quo change in Hulk’s history, and that time is finally here,” Johnson said in a statement accompanying the announcement. “The next few issues of Incredible Hulk give fans all the answers they’ve been waiting for about Eldest and the Mother of Horrors, and Infernal Hulk is the beginning of a terrifying new normal, not just for the Hulk series but for the entire Marvel Universe.”

“There are monsters way worse and more powerful than anything we’ve seen so far, bigger and stronger than Hulk with origins that go back to the foundations of the Earth,” he continued. “It’s time to take this story to the next level, and no corner of the Marvel Universe will be left untouched before the end.”

Marvel’s crossover Predator Kills the Marvel Universe #1 was one of the top-selling horror comics of summer (see “Top Trends in Horror Comics”).
