This expansion includes cards from the Japanese language Disgaea Booster Pack, Disgaea 4 Extra Booster, and Disgaea D2 Extra Booster sets. The cards are inspired by a series of digital role-playing games first released in 2003, and the manga and anime series it has spun off. In Disgaea, heroes undertake a series of adventures in the demon-haunted Netherworld and the angel-inhabited Celestia.
The English version of the Disgaea expansion will include Trial Decks, Booster Packs, and a Meister Set.
The pre-constructed Trial Deck will include 50 cards, a rules sheet, deck manual, and a playmat, and will include 18 exclusive cards not available in the Booster Packs. In addition, two varieties of RRR foil cards and one type of SP gold foil card signed by voice actor Tatsuhisa Suzuki will be randomly inserted in some decks.
There will be 165 different cards available in Booster Packs, including 22 parallel cards. Cards are packed eight to a booster. Random packs will also include one of seven different Gold Foil/Hot Stamped SP cards signed by Japanese voice actors Kaori Mizuhashi, Tomoe Hanba, Yuuko Sasamoto, Kaori Ishihara, Wataru Hatano, Suzuko Mimori, and Manabi Mizuno. A collector’s Meister Set will also be offered for this expansion, with an exclusive rubber playmat, 700-card storage box, and PR card. Each Meister Set also includes 10 Disgaea booster packs. The Meister Set will be a limited print run.The English language version of the new expansion does not include the gold or silver campaign coupons from the Japanese Edition. They may only be used in tournaments held outside of Japan.
Disgaea will release two weeks after the Sword Art Online II Vol. 2 expansion, scheduled for May 27 (see “‘Weiss Schwarz’ Expands ‘Sword Art Online’ Offerings”). Weiss Schwarz was the 10th best-selling collectible game in ICv2’s list of top sellers last fall (see “Top Collectible Games-Fall 2015”).
