Privateer Press will release new editions of Warmachine and Hordes this summer. The new editions will be released on June 29 with a premiere at Lock & Load GameFest on June 10 – 12.

The new core rulebooks, Warmachine: Prime and Hordes: Primal, will be updated and redesigned to allow for quicker learning and more intuitive gameplay. Twelve Faction Decks will also be released, containing each stat card previously released for that faction, allowing players to update their card collections to the new edition.

Nine new Battlegroup Starter Boxes will be released at launch as well. Each will introduce a new warcaster or warlock along with all the models required for a starting battlegroup. Battlegroup Starter Boxes will also include a rules digest, basic training tutorial, dice, model stat cards, a battle map, obstacle card, tokens, a ruler, a 22-page Introductory guide featuring army building advice, a hobby painting tutorial, a faction strategy guide, and new fiction about the warlock or warcaster in the box. MSRP is $39.99.

Privateer will support the launch with organized play including a worldwide Full Steam launch event, new Journeyman and Narrative leagues, and competitive Steamroller events. Three launch kits will be offered in North America, each tailored to a specific community size. Regular Launch Kits will ship with a special Field Kit promotional bundle that includes a branded dice bag, glue, card sleeves, and a dry erase marker for giveaway with the purchase of a new Battlegroup Starter Box. The Launch Kits also contain a Journeyman League Kit which includes four demo battlegroups to teach the game. Deluxe and Premium Launch Kits also include replacement card decks and a Full Steam Launch Event Kit. Premium Kits also include a demo table and signed, limited edition copy of both rulebooks.

Privateer recently announced a new sales policy that it hopes will end deep discounting of its products online (see “Privateer Axes Offending Online Retailers”).
