Several comic publishers have tapped into the patriotic momentum of this year’s political races and turned the political lens on their own characters with some choice new titles.

Dynamite announced the new one-shot special, Army of Darkness: Ash for President. Written by Elliott Serrano, the issue features art by Diego Galindo and a main cover by Elliot Fernandez. The 48-page issue will answer the question “What if Ash Williams ran for President of the United States?” A cryptic message from the Necronomicon sends Ash to track down an agent of The Great Darkness which threatens both the human and demon realms. Somehow the trail leads to… the campaign trail? MSRP is $5.99 Release is planned for August 3.
BOOM! Studios' KaBOOM! Imprint is offering a political race from the Land of Ooo in the Adventure Time: President Bubblegum OGN. Written by Josh Trujillo, the original graphic novel includes interior art by Zachary Sterling and a cover by Scott Maynard. According to CBR, the story follows in the wake of the King of Ooo finding the long-lost ConstiOootion, which requires that in one week there must be an election for Ooo’s first President. Princess Bubblegum will have to campaign against her enemies – and frenemies – to keep her spot on the throne. MSRP is $14.99. Release is planned for September.
Marvel launched its candidate’s campaign earlier this year with Vote Loki #1. The God of Lies has decided to throw his hat (horns?) into the ring and campaign to become ruler of the free world. Or is the campaign trail just a subterfuge for a more nefarious plot? With his winning smile and silver tongue, its hard to be sure. The miniseries is written by Christopher Hastings, with art by Langdon Foss and main cover by Tradd Moore. A variant for issue #1 will be provided by Valerio Schiti. Release is planned for June 15. MSRP is $3.99.
