NBM Graphic Novels Publishing has announced a trio of murder treasuries by creator Rick Geary.
A Treasury of Murder Set will release in September. The banded hardcover set will include Lovers Lane, Famous Players, and The Murder of Lincoln. The collection of true-crime classics provides an illustrated journey though the late Victorian era and early 20th Century. Famous Players tells of the murder of a prominent silent movie director, while Lovers Lane details the discovery of the corpses of a Reverend and a respected townswoman found holding hands. These tales, along with the murder of the famous President, are presented with bibliographies of research sources. MSRP is $39.99.
In November, A Treasury of XX Century Murder: Black Dahlia will release. Geary begins with the murder of Elizabeth Short, and then reconstitutes the life of the 22-year-old who had be dubbed “Black Dahlia” for her striking appearance. The woman had many suitors, including some associated with the mafia. The case got even more complex when a local newspaper received a cut-out letter from an anonymous “Black Dahlia Avenger” admitting to the crime. Additional letters followed, toying with the LAPD. The 80-page, black and white jacketed hardcover has an MSRP of $15.99. A Treasury of XX Century Murder Compendium 1is due in March 2017. The set includes The Lindbergh Child, The Axe-Man of New Orleans, and Madison Square Tragedy. The 240-page omnibus tells the tales of the abduction (and media circus) of the abduction of aviator Charles Lindbergh’s son; the love affair that ended the life of architect Stanford White; and the gruesome killing spree of the New Orleans’ Axe-Man. Each story includes bibliographies of research sources, presenting the true facts about each famous murder. The black and white hardcover has an MSRP of $27.99.
