It was 2007 when Genndy Tartakovsky announced his take on Luke Cage (see “'Samurai Jack' Creator Takes On 'Luke Cage'”), now the four-issue miniseries will finally see print in October.

The series revival was announced via BirthMoviesDeath. Tartakovsky’s take on the superhero, Cage!, will be set in an over-the-top version of the 1970s. The award-winning creator of Dexter’s Laboratory, Samurai Jack, and Hotel Transylvania will both write and draw the series, with inks by Stephen De Stefano. The title will be set in the mean streets of Harlem, where the world’s hardest-working, smack-talking, chain-waring superhero is on the street and on the case.  The story will also include 1970s version of other Marvel characters.

Netflix is currently filming a series about the superhero (see “Luke Cage Opens Bar on Daredevil's Turf”). Luke Cage is set to premiere on September 30, 2016.
