Comic-Con News: During the panel for Netflix’s upcoming Luke Cage series (see “Teaser Trailer for Marvel’s Luke Cage”) news that the first Netflix Marvel Comics-based series, Daredevil, had been renewed for a third season was announced.  Season 2 of Daredevil, which is produced by showrunners Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez, debuted from Netflix in March.  As Variety pointed out, all the Netflix Marvel Comics-based series including the upcoming Iron Fist (see “First Look at Iron Fist”) and The Defenders (see “Netflix Teases Marvel’s Defenders”) are related to the streaming services initial comic book series, Daredevil.

Also announced at Comic-Con was the debut date for the seventh season of The Walking Dead, which will premiere on Sunday, October 23 at 9pm (ET, PT) with the first of eight episodes.  The remaining eight episodes of Season Seven will debut sometime in February of 2017.  Season 7 (see “The Walking Dead Season 7 Comic-Con Trailer”) will feature the barbed-wire-bat wielding villain Negan, and the introduction of the fan favorite comic character Ezekiel, who shows up with pet tiger in tow.

Yet another Comic-Con TV announcement was the renewal of the Dreamworks Animation-produced Voltron: Legendary Defender, the first season of which, just debuted from Netflix on June 10 (see “New Full-Length Voltron: Legendary Defender Trailer”).   Season 2 will pick up right where Season 1 left off with the members of the Voltron team scattered throughout the universe.

Finally, SyFy announced the order of a second 13-episode season for the Wynonna Earp TV series, which is based on comic book created by Beau Smith and currently published by IDW.  The first season of the TV show (see “Beau Comic Gets TV Deal”), which is produced by showrunner Emily Andras debuted in April.
