Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray’s DC Comics series The Monolith is being developed as a film by Lionsgate, according to THR.

Dave Wilson, creative director of Blur Studio, is attached to direct. Blur Studio is owned by Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool.  Wilson has credits on several video games and trailers, and was involved with Avengers: Age of Ultron. Erwin Stoff (3 Hours, Burnt) will produce.

The Monolith was originally published by DC Comics in 2004 – 2005. DC never collected the series, and its rights reverted to Palmiotti and Gray in 2012. They took the property to Image and had a graphic novel published in August 2012.

The story follows Alice Cohen, an ex-junkie whose grandmother leaves her a house in Brooklyn. Alice finds her grandmother’s diary and reads a tale of love lost and revenge during the Great Depression. All this led to the creation of a monster used to right the wrong of a horrible killing. And the golem still exists.
