At New York Comic Con, ICv2 talked to Publisher Josh Frankel about Z2 Comics’ upcoming comic and graphic novel releases.

In November, Indoctrination Vol. 1 will release. The story is written by Michael Moreci (Hoax Hunters), with art by Matt Battaglia. “It’s basically about a cult-leader/terrorist in the U.S. and the two F.B.I. agents that are chasing him,” Frankel said. “It’s a very good book, not political, but there’s going to be a very strong conservative media push on it that we think is going to knock out sales.” The push will take place in mid-November, after elections and before Black Friday.

On December 7, the comic series Grave Lillies will launch. Written by Cullen Bunn (The Sixth Gun, Harrow County) and drawn by George Kambadais (A Place in the Heart), the story follows what happens when five coffin-like stasis tubes are discovered in the middle of a large city. Inside each is a young woman, with no memory of how they got there. They each have a remarkable ability, which they’ll have to use against the sinister agencies pursuing them.

In June 2017, Z2 Comics will release the graphic novel Murder Ballads, which it announced early this year (see “'Murder Ballads' Comic Accompanied by Soundtrack”). Written by Gabe Soria (Life Sucks), with art by Paul Reinwand (Aloha Hawaiian Dick, TMNT: Casey & April), the comic miniseries include an original soundtrack by Dan Auerebach of the Black Keys and the Arcs. “The book will come with a drop-card that has five songs by Dan, so we’re expecting that to do very, very well.”
