Canadian game designer Jason Anarchy (Drinking Quest) is publishing a humorous card game about the challenges of adulthood called Pretending to Grownup, releasing in May[Update 3-29-17: June]

Inspired by Megan McKay’s webcomic Doodle for Food, this tongue-in-cheek card has players confronting various “grownup” activities using the game’s three resources:  time, money, and energy.  Players can try to prove that they are “more grownup” than the others through challenges, bluffing their way through their responsibilities, or calling on the magical “unipegasaurus” to help them overcome the trials of grownup life.

The game primarily features illustrations by Megan McKay, but will also include a number of “guest cards” illustrated by other webcomic artists, inclulding J L Westover, David Daneman, Olivia Walch, Enzo, Zach Stafford, Brian Gordon, Mark Glavin, Peter Chiykowski, Sara Zimmerman, Alex Norris, Chris Grady, Nick Seluk, Shen, and Andy Stuart.

Pretending to Grownup includes 100 cards.  The game was designed for 2 to 4 players, ages 13 and up, and plays in about half an hour.  MSRP is $25.00 [$29.99].

Anarchy is funding the project through a Kickstarter campaign that has collected $149,761 in pledged support from 5,302 backers (an average of $28.25 per backer) with just under three days remaining, vastly higher than the project’s modest $4,484 goal.  The Kickstarter includes a “Dealer Package” with six copies of the game.
