Warner Bros. has acquired digital content company Machinima, according to Variety, in a deal valued at slightly under $100 million.  Warner had previously led two investment rounds in Machinima, and had an option to acquire the remaining shares, which it exercised.  Machinima creates original digital series and reaches nearly 150 million viewers a month across multiple platforms.  Machinima will join the Warner Bros. Digital Networks group.

DC is expected to be a focus for Machinima in its new role, according to the report.  Machinima has worked with Warners on DC content in the past, including a three-episode animated series tied to Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles (see “Exclusive ‘Justice League’ Animated Series”).
