Unfortunately, it wasn’t a very merry Christmas for the owners of IDC Comics Toys & Collectibles in Avon Park, Florida. Christmas morning brought a phone call from local police about a break in at the store. Once staff had a chance to survey the damage, which included a smashed front door, they discovered that most of the graded comics were missing.

IDC Comics will be posting the serial numbers of the missing books online and contacting local store owners about the theft.

“Hope you enjoyed your self, but you will be caught and you prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” IDC Comics promised in a Facebook post about the robbery.

IDC Comics co-owner Brian Shelton believes that the thief absconded with $4,000 to $5,000 worth of comics according to a report from Tampa Bay ABC News affiliate WFTS. Shelton also suspects the thief or thieves had been into the store before. “They knew what they were getting,” Shelton told WFTS. “We believe that they’ve been here before [probably] several times, too, to figure out pricing and stuff like that.”

Anyone with information on the crime is encouraged to call Heartland Crime Stoppers at 1-800-226-8477.
