The New York Times is reporting, in a story by George Gene Gustines, that DC is changing its logo to a new design for its comics and all other uses of the brand later this month. According to the article, the first book featuring the new logo will appear May 25th, with the full line carrying the new logo the following week. The Batman Begins movie will also feature the new logo (in an animated version).
The new logo has a proud graphic heritage to live up to. The current logo dates from 1977, when it was created by superstar graphic designer Milton (I Love New York) Glaser. It was a variation on an earlier design that also featured the letters in a circle. The new logo was designed by Josh Beatman of Brainchild Studios.
