Calum Johnston of Strange Adventures of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and Fredericton, New Brunswick has a question regarding an ICv2 article covering the recent ComicsPRO meeting.

In the recent ComicsPRO article (see "ComicsPRO Meeting Up 21%"), you mention "attendance was up 21% over attendance last year despite the change in venue."  The venue for the annual meeting has traditionally changed every two years.  It's been in Memphis, Dallas, Atlanta, etc.  So what does the writer mean by "despite the change in venue?"

Hey Calum, thanks for the question.  The reference to the venue was from the linked story, in which we said:

"Portland seems like an odd choice (#22 market in the U.S., not a major air hub), until you consider its importance to the comics business (Dark Horse Comics, a top five publisher, and Oni Press, publisher of the hit Scott Pilgrim series and others, are headquartered there), and that it's sort of centrally located on the north-south West Coast axis, giving a nod to the growing comic scene in the Pacific Northwest."

So what we were saying was that Portland was a success for the less obvious reasons we noted, despite the fact that it's not a particularly big city and not a major air hub.  –ed.
