IDW Publishing is readying 30 Days of Night: Red Snow, a 3-issue mini-series prequel to the action in the original 30 Days of Night graphic novel.  Red Snow is set in the Russian arctic during the height of World War II.  Ben Templesmith, who provided the art for the original 30 Days of Night saga, functions as both writer and artist on Red Snow, which follows the adventures of a British military attache who is attempting to get aid to Stalin's hard-pressed frontline troops, but soon finds there is an enemy even worse than the Nazis.  The first 32-page, full color issue in the Red Snow series is due out in August.

A major motion picture starring Josh Hartnett and based on the original 30 Days of Night graphic novel is due to debut in October and will certainly raise the profile for this high concept property and should also provide an excellent opportunity for retailers to interest new customers in the increasing number of comics and graphic novels based on the 30 Days of Night property.
