Pop6, a Montreal-based entertainment company, is currently working on an animated feature based on Gene-Fusion, a series of comic books created by Beckett Entertainment President Jeff Amano.  Amano created Gene-Fusion as Beckett Entertainment's first comic book.  The first issue was a giveaway at MipCom in 2002 and the book was later turned into a four-issue mini-series written by Ivan Brandon with art from Neil Vokes (Mike Oeming and Kelsey Shannon provided the covers).  The film, which will be known as Gene-Fusion: Tournament of Champions, is slated for a 2008 debut.

In the world of Gene-Fusion specially-trained athletes called 'Fusers' create their own super creature by combining three forms of animal DNA.  Gabriel Benson (Fade From Grace, The Ballad of Sleeping Beauty) is writing the film with Shaun McLaughlin (Batman Beyond, Justice League Unlimited) producing and Francois Brisson (The Night Hood) directing.  Although the project was originally conceived as a direct-to-DVD release, the producers are now considering other possible avenues of distribution including a theatrical release.
