DC Comics has brought in Steve Rotterdam, an experienced ad agency executive with a long track record in entertainment marketing, as its new Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing.  He replaces Stephanie Fierman, who left that position in January (see 'Fierman Out at DC').

Rotterdam was most recently Chief Creative Officer at Eastwest Marketing Group, where he worked with entertainment companies, including Warner Bros., Universal, Paramount, and Discovery Kids, in the development of brand partnerships and integrated marketing opportunities.  His eight-year stint at Eastwest also saw the growth of the agency and work for consumer packaged goods companies.

Rotterdam's earlier stops also had entertainment components.  In his two years as a VP at Guild Group, he built a West Coast presence and entertainment practice for that company.

Prior to his time at Guild Group, Rotterdam founded GB!/The Chelsea Group, a Griffin Bacal/DDB Worldwide division specializing in promotional marketing to youth and family markets, where he was SVP and Creative Director for five years.   Clients there included Warner Bros., Topps, Hasbro, Showtime, Disney Publishing, and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment.
