Marvel's ad for its Dark Tower: The Gunslinger Born hardcover, due out this week, appeared in the New York Times Book Review on Sunday, on page 13. The ad bullets the number of comics sold ('Over 1 Million Copies Sold!') over a large cover illo.
The ad directs readers to 'wherever books are sold' and offers the Comic Shop Locator Service number 'to find Marvel products at a local comic shop.'
This ad in a venue that sells over 1.5 million copies will expose the comic collection to a broad audience of Stephen King readers that are probably otherwise unaware that the graphic novel exists, a great way to bring in new comic readers.
