Devil’s Due Publishing has announced a publishing deal with leading videogame developer Capcom that will result in the publication of four new comic book series based on Capcom properties.  Details about the titles, which will include comics based on Bionic Commando and Lost Planet, will be released at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Devil’s Due’s deal with Capcom reflects a trend among comic book (and manga) publishers to take advantage of the popularity of videogames.  Marvel has had a huge hit with its Halo graphic novel, while Tokyopop’s Warcraft manga has long been among its most popular OEL (Original English Language) manga.  DC Comics recently announced a new comic book series based on the highly anticipated Prototype videogame (see “DC Comics to Publish Comic Based on Prototype”).
