Dave Elliott is doing his part in promoting the 80s revival by resurrecting Atomeka, the imprint he founded in 1985 with Gary Leach (see 'Dave Elliott Revives Atomeka').  The first Atomeka publication, due out in July, is Maximum Force, a multi-layered parody of a superhero team that combines Elliott's twisted sensibility with Simon Bisley's go-for-the-jugular painterly style.  The five 'heroes' involved in Maximum Force are Max Carnage, the leader of the group, Blitz the Manic Mandrill, BobCat, Preying Mantis, and Sharky.  Maximum Force concerns itself with depicting how this lonely, eclectic group of super powered beings manages to survive both inner tensions and external threats.

Elliott described the New York City occupied by Maximum Force as 'a world where our rules and the rules of a Tom & Jerry cartoon exist side by side.  I want to use comedy in a way comics never would...The best and most effective use of drama and horror is where the audience laughs first, then you shock them or make them feel guilty for doing so.'
