The anime feature Batman: Gotham Knight has been nominated in the “Best Animated Home Entertainment Production” (direct-to-DVD) category in the 36th Annual Annie Awards, which are presented by the International Animated Film Society (ASIFA) in Hollywood.  Other titles nominated in the “direct-to-DVD” category include Futurama: Beast With a Billion Backs, Justice League: The New Frontier, The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning, and Christmas Is Here Again.

 

Dreamworks’ Kung Fu Panda led the way with 17 nominations.  Overall Dreamworks garnered 27 nominations, while Walt Disney Animation scored 9 and Pixar 8.  Nickelodeon topped the TV animation category with 12 nominations. 

 

Titles nominated in the “Best Animated Feature” category included, Kung Fu Panda (Dreamworks), Wall-E (Pixar), Bolt (Disney), $9.99 (Sherman), and Waltz with Bashir (Sony). 

 

“Best Animated Short Subject” nominations include Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death (Aardman), Presto (Pixar), Glago’s Ghost (Disney), Hot Dog (Bill Plympton), and Sebastian’s Voodoo (Joaquin Baldwin). 

 

“Best Animated TV Productions for Kids” contenders include Avatar: The Last Airbender (Nickelodeon), A Miser Brothers’ Christmas (Warner Bros.), The Mighty B! (Nickelodeon), Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends (Cartoon Network), and Underfist: Halloween Bash (Cartoon Network).
