At Book Expo America Tokyopop announced the release of two new manga trade paperbacks this summer.  Angelic Layer will ship in June, while Cardcaptor Sakura: Master of the Clow will ship in July.  Cardcaptor Sakura: Master of the Clow and Angelic Layer will be published in Tokyopop's 'authentic' manga, right-to-left, back-to-front format (see 'Tokyopop To Publish Manga in Japanese Format' and 'Manga Right-To-Left, Will it Fly').  Like the other books in Tokyopop 'authentic' manga series, the two new titles will retail for $9.99.

Both Angelic Layer and Cardcaptor Sakura were created by the highly popular, all-female artist collective known as CLAMP (Satsuki Igarshi, Nanase Ohkawa, Mick Nekoi, and Mokona Apapa).  The CLAMP group is responsible for many of the best-selling shojo titles in Japan including, Chobits, Clover, Magic Knight Rayearth, and X.

Angelic Layer recounts the adventures of 12-year-old Misaki Suzuhara, who wants to excel at the futuristic sport of Angelic Layer -- basically battle tournaments for 'electronic' angel dolls hatched from eggs.

Cardcaptor Sakura: Master of the Clow continues the highly popular Cardcaptor Sakura series, which has been an extremely successful manga for Tokyopop.  Like Sailor Moon, Tokyopop's top shojo property, Cardcaptor Sakura has benefited from the fact that the anime version of the Cardcaptor saga has appeared regularly on American television.
