Variety is reporting that Race to Witch Mountain and Gameplan director Andy Fickman has signed on to direct another family adventure film, an adaptation of the Ait/Planet Lar graphic novel Monster Attack Network.  Scott Elder and Josh Harmon, who wrote a highly praised spec script, Snow and the Seven, which sets the Snow White legend in 19th Century Hong Kong where the eponymous heroine is tutored by seven Shaolin monks, have been hired to adapt the Monster Attack Network graphic novel, which was written by Marc Bernadin and Adam Freeman, and which Disney acquired last summer (see “Disney Sets Up Monster Attack Network”).

According to Variety, Disney sees Monster Attack Network, which “focuses on a team of first responders” who defend an island against frequent attacks by giant monsters, as a Men In Black-type tentpole film.  Jason Netter, who is developing Dynamite’s The Boys for Columbia and has Ait/Planet Lar’s Couriers set up at Rogue Pictures, is producing Monster Attack Network.  No word yet on whether Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is interested in starring in the film, but he would be a natural for the role of Nate Klinger (leader of the M.A.N. first responders),  and has a successful track record working with Fickman.
