James Kite of Serenity Studios in Sydney, Australia read the recent article regarding the two different endings for the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie (see "Two 'Wolverine' Endings") and shares his thoughts:
So you need to see the movie twice? Or is that three, four or five times until you find the other print? Will cinemas have both prints available, or are you going to have to go from cinema to cinema in the hopes of seeing it or getting lucky and have the cinema tell you that their ending does not match what you saw. Or, more likely, fans will get annoyed and simply check out youtube or any other option of similar ilk.
As one of the biggest Wolverine fans out there (or I used to be since the character has been used to death, cloned in every way imaginable -- both the character or the basis for -- and just isn't as special as he used to
be... thank god my all time favorite character Illyana is finally back. I've been waiting a very long time for the Darkchild to weave her Magik once more... see if they can keep from ruining my nostalgia rush) to say that I for one am less than impressed is an understatement.
Bonus bits on the DVD release is one thing, but random bits that may or may not be available at theatrical level because they figure variant endings is supposed to be a good thing? To be blunt... stuff that for a joke.
A friend (apparently) saw an advance screening tonight and his view... not as good as X-Men 1 and 2 but better then the lame duck that was the third. He was not jumping for joy and just thought it was fairly average though with some good bits. I can only imagine his reaction to having to see it again on the off chance the next one may have a different ending. Some are bound to see it again, but having to hunt that second ending down. Between that and my friend's response, tempted to wait till the DVD now (but I know I wont... I just won't bother seeing it in the first week since my enthusiasm certainly just dropped a notch).
