Randy Martin of Comics Plus in Los Banos, California read the recent article about Upper Deck getting the rights to produce a variety of products based on the Marvel properties (see "Upper Deck, Marvel Ink Deal") and has this to say:
As far as the gaming part of this deal I hope Upper Deck can make a CMG that is as good as HeroClix. If they can then this is good news for gamers and gaming stores.
However, when it comes to the trading card aspect this is bad news. As far as I and my customers are concerned Upper Deck has a poor track record with non-sports cards. The collation of their boxes is horrible and you can never get a complete set out of the box. I have stopped ordering any Upper Deck non-sports boxes. And unless they change their process in producing non-sports cards I will not be purchasing any of their Marvel cards.
