Bryan Singer will direct and produce a Battlestar Galactica feature for Universal, in news first broken by Hitfix.  The film, which will also be produced by original series creator Glen Larson, is planned as a completely new version of the property.

Singer was attached to a BSG feature in 2001 (see “X-Men Helmer Spaces Out”), which was planned as a pilot for a new series, but work was halted late that year (see “Fox Shoots Down New Galactica Series”).

Singer has a great history with genre properties, as the writer and director of X-Men, X2, and Superman Returns.
