Now that NECA has acquired WizKids and announced its first product release, (see “Marvel HeroClix: Hammer of Thor”), the newly reconstituted company is revamping its Organized Play program for the Hammer of Thor release, which is due out in November.  Among the key changes to the WizKids OP program for this release: the dropping of requirements that events be recorded or reported and that an envoy be present to run events; the simultaneous release of OP Kits and Hammer of Thor Boosters, allowing stores to run events with unique prize support on release day; and the distribution of OP Kits to retailers by distributors.

The Hammer of Thor OP Kit will include a suggested tournament schedule and prize distribution format, but retailers will be free to determine how events will be run and how the kits are used.

The Marvel HeroClix: Hammer of Thor Organized Play Kit (available only from distributors) includes: 15 limited edition figures (3 copies of 5 different figures), 13 3D objects (10 heavy objects and 3 special objects), 9 event dials (3 copies of 3 different event dials), 9 feats (3 copies of 3 different feats), 6 alternate team ability cards (6 copies of 1 card), 3 battlefield condition cards (3 copies of 1 card), 10 maps (24” x 36”), and 1 instruction sheet.
