WizKids has announced that Hammer of Thor, its first HeroClix release under NECA ownership (see “Marvel HeroClix:  Hammer of Thor”), has sold out at the manufacturer level, at quantities above the level of Marvel HeroClix:  Secret Invasion, the last Marvel HeroClix release before prior owner Topps shut down WizKids late last year.

A spokesperson for Diamond Comic Distributors and Alliance Game Distributors told us that both companies expected to be able to fill preorders.  “Based on the strong reaction we received to our Previews Plus solicitation and the performance of prior WizKids products, we preordered a significant amount of extras to cover the additional orders we anticipate from the October Previews solicitation,” the spokesperson said of Diamond’s inventory position.  Alliance also expects to be able to fill its preorders based on the inventory position it took.

WizKids’ sellout means that the direct-to-retailer accounts opened via NECA (see “WizKids Selling Direct to Retailers”) won’t have access to more product than what’s already been ordered, and no new retailer accounts will have access to Hammer of Thor.  Diamond and Alliance accounts can still order the product via distribution.
