Sales on Papercutz’ Tales from the Crypt vol. 8, which features parodies of the hottest YA properties, are hot out of the gate, with the publisher returning to press before release on November 10th. The lead (cover) feature, “Diary of a Stinky Dead Kid,” rides the wave of interest in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid graphic novels; the fourth volume released this month with a print run of four million copies (see “Four Million ‘Wimpy Kid 4s’”). Also in this volume are “Die-Lite,” which parodies the red-hot Twilight series, and the sequel to Night Traveler from Tales from the Crypt vol. 7, “Something Wicca this Way Comes.”
Combined print runs on the hardcover and softcover editions are 20,000 copies. The hardcover is sold out and back at press, with the softcover to follow soon.
Diary of a Stinky Dead Kid is cover-featured on the Tales from the Crypt Box Set: Vols. 5-8, which streets November 24th.
