The sequel to Sherlock Holmes, which has already pulled Robert Downey Jr. off Cowboys and Aliens (see “Not So Fast, Pardner”), has now taken director Guy Ritchie off Lobo, which had been planned as his next film. Joel Silver, who’s the producer on both Sherlock Holmes and Lobo, told the L.A. Times’ Geoff Boucher that he expected to move forward on Lobo with a new director. Sherlock’s nearly $400 million in worldwide box office, and Warner’s desire to turn the property into a franchise as soon as possible, was the reason for the decision, according to Silver.
