IDW Publishing has released free iPad storefront apps that offer in-app sales of its Transformers and G.I. Joe comics.  The two apps offer around 200 issues combined, including three free issues for each property.      

IDW has been perhaps the most aggressive publisher at breaking out its most recognizable properties into individual app stores that can attract fans of the property to its comic downloads, and has been successful with the strategy, apparently with little or perhaps even a positive impact on its printed comic sales  (see “Up to $1 Million in Digital”).
