Summit Entertainment has announced that it will create two films based on the fourth and final book in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga.   The first part of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will debut on November 18th, with the second half of Breaking Dawn slated for sometime in 2012.  Summit’s action mirrors what Warner Bros. has done with the final volume of another uber-popular book series by presenting the film adaptation of the last volume in the Harry Potter series in two parts.

Bill Condon will direct both parts of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn with the original cast including Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner all returning.  The third film in the Twilight series, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, which was directed by David Slade, opens on June 30th.

Breaking “Dawn” into two parts will extend the property’s life and is certainly good news for ancillary products such as Yen Press’ ongoing series of graphic novel adaptation.
