Dynamite Entertainment previously announced Alex Ross would be “bringing a friend” (see “Dynamite Teases Kirby Books”) to work with him on a new project based on characters created by Jack Kirby.  It has now been revealed that this friend is Eisner and Harvey award winning writer Kurt Busiek, who will team with Ross on Kirby: Genesis.  The new project will feature dozens of Kirby creations including the Ninth Men, Tiger 21 and Silver Star.  This marks Busiek’ and Ross’s first full collaboration since 1993’s Marvels.

Asked about getting the opportunity to again work with Ross, and on Kirby’s characters, Busiek said, "If you look up ‘dream come true’ in the dictionary, it's defined as ‘Working with Alex Ross on a big, epic project featuring dozens of Kirby characters,' in my dictionary, at least.”

Ross added, “Kirby: Genesis is a way to repay the impact this one man’s creativity has had in shaping our lives.  I’m excited to be plotting this adventure with Kurt as well as to be contributing to some of the interior art.”
