President Barack Obama and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who are certainly no strangers to the comics world, return to four-color glory in a two-part saga, “Campaign Pains” that debuts in Archie #616 in December.  The two most visible leaders of the Democratic and Republican parties make their way to Riverdale as the student government race between Archie and Reggie spins out of control. 

Judging from the cover to Archie #616 it appears that just as Riverdale High is about to explode in partisan fury, these two national figures come to the idyllic small town and bury the hatchet as they share a malt at Pop Tate’s Chok’lit Shoppe.  Maybe the folks at Archie are trying to tell us something.  Too bad they could publish their “let’s all get along and play nice” message before the upcoming mid-term elections.
