The long-running drama surrounding the two-feature Hobbit project continues, with little movement toward a resolution. A meeting in New Zealand between the producers and actors guilds, mediated by the country’s economic development minister (see “Hobbit News Roundup”), did not produce any breakthroughs to resolve the actors’ boycott against the film, according to Variety.
Meanwhile MGM, which owns half the rights to the film, has gone from moving toward a pre-packaged bankruptcy that would give its creditors most of the company back to talking to Lions Gate about a new offer (an offer last summer was rejected), according to the Los Angeles Times.
