Syfy and Universal Pictures have created Syfy Films, a new company that will produce moderately priced genre films in the science fiction, fantasy, supernatural, and horror categories.  The new company will produce one to two films per year based on Syfy’s ability to produce genre programming (for Syfy Channel).  The films will be distributed, marketed, and publicized by Universal. 

Development of new films will being in 2011, with the first releases expected to hit the market in 2012.
