Graphic.ly, the Boulder, Colorado-based purveyor of digital comics, has announced another round of Series A financing totaling $3 million. The financing was led by DFJ Mercury with participation from 500 Startups, Dundee VC, Ludlow Ventures, and several angel investors.

Graphic.ly CEO Micah Baldwin indicated that the company plans to use these funds to create “extras” that will enhance the digital comics reading experience with audio commentaries, music, video, and interactive panels.

It was just a year ago that Graphic.ly announced an earlier round of Series A financing led by DFJ Mercury that raised $1.2 million (see “Graphic.ly Raises $1.2 Million”). The new larger round of investment provides some indication of the excitement among investors that the burgeoning field of digital publishing has generated.
