The troubled Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has hired musical consultant Paul Bogaev, to improve the production, the arrangements, and the sound quality, according to the New York Times. Bogaev has a history of working with rock stars, including Phil Collins and Elton John, on Broadway shows.

Bogaev joins the script doctor recently hired by the show (see “Spider-Man Musical Director Stays”) as support for efforts to improve the show in the wake of generally poor reviews. The changes being contemplated may delay the opening of the show (which is in previews) beyond the currently planned March 15th date.  But the show is currently the second-highest grossing production in New York (see “No Such Thing as Bad Publicity Department”), so there doesn’t seem to be a lot of urgency to formally open.
