The new Thundercats series is being produced in Japan by Studio 4 C (The Animatrix, Batman: Gotham Knight, Tekkon Kinkreet) and it definitely has more of an anime feel than the original (see “New Thundercats Series Reveals Its Anime Roots”).
Series Debuting Later This Year

The Cartoon Network has released a trailer for the new Thundercats cartoon series, which is set to debut later this year. The new series updates the classic 1980s Saturday morning Thundercats cartoon, which was produced by Rankin/Bass, and was a staple of kids’ TV programming from 1985-1990. In addition to lots of toys, the original Thundercats cartoon spawned a Thundercats comic book series from Marvel that lasted from 1985-1988, and inspired subsequent comic book series from Wildstorm that debuted in 2003 during the height of the 1980s revival.
