Eric Kripke, the creator of the Supernatural TV series, who was hand-picked by Warner Bros. to develop a Sandman television series (see “The Sandman to TV”), has indicated that the Sandman series is not happening, at least not this year.

Kripke told The Hollywood Reporter: “Unfortunately, for a lot of varying reasons, Sandman is not in the works, at least not for this season. It just didn’t happen this season through nobody’s fault, and hopefully we can do it again in the future.”

Last season Kripke left his position showrunner for Supernatural, a move that freed up enough time for other projects like Sandman, but he has continued to write some episodes of Supernatural for the upcoming season.
