Just in time for the start of the second season of AMC’s The Walking Dead Abrams Books is publishing The Walking Dead Chronicles ($19.95), a behind-the-scenes look at the first six-episode season of the popular zombie series.  Based on Robert Kirkman’s bestselling comic book series from Image, The Walking Dead TV show has spawned toys, board games, and now a “making-of” volume that will examine both the development of the TV series and the scope of Kirkman’s sprawling comic book saga, which has reached 14 volumes.

 

The Walking Dead Chronicles will include lots of comparisons of panels from the comic books with storyboards and stills from the TV show, plus a detailed look at how the series’ highly effective zombie makeup effects. Also included in the Chronicles will be interviews with the three most important figures behind the series, comic creator Robert Kirkman, the TV series creator producer Frank Darabont, and makeup wizard Greg Nicastro.
